MetraSCAN 3D

MetraSCAN 3D is an optical free moving CMM scanner that is currently the most accurate system in this category of 3D scanning systems. The MetraSCAN solution can be used in any working environment, e.g. in the laboratory, in the workshop, outdoors, etc.

MetraSCAN 3D enables trouble-free scanning of colored, black and glossy surfaces without the need to matt or spray them white.

The MetraSCAN 3D scanning system can be expanded with the HandyPROBE NextTM touch probe. The combination of laser scanning and touch probe covers all measurement needs, be it reverse engineering or quality control. During the sensing itself, the touch probe and the laser head can be seamlessly changed during one measurement!

The new MetraSCAN 3D

MetraSCAN 3D is produced in two variants. The difference is the scanning speed and the laser line for hard-to-reach areas. The following options are available:

  • MetraSCAN 3D 750 – 7 laser crosses + 1 extra line for hard-to-reach areas
  • MetraSCAN 3D 350 – 3 laser crosses

Both scanhead variants include the latest improvements over the original version of this system:

  • 1,5x more accurate
  • very fast scanning
  • 25% lighter
  • Seamless scanning of all types of material (multi-colored surfaces, black surfaces, glossy surfaces,...)
  • Increasing the scanning workspace up to 16,6 m3

C-Track reference for sensing the position of the object and the scanner in space

CTrack dual camera sensors are equipped with high-quality optics and special lighting, which allows them to accurately capture all reflectors in the work area. CTrack provides the following functions during scanning:

  • Tracks the MetraSCAN scan head or the HandyPROBE Next touch probe in space and determines its position.
  • When placing reference marks on or around the model, it constantly recalculates the position of the scanner relative to the model. So the part can move even during scanning.
  • The controller ensures all calculations with the subsequent transfer of the captured data to the PC. At the same time, it also ensures control of the ambient temperature and reports its dramatic changes, which would have a negative effect on the accuracy of the measurement.

Robotic solution MetraSCAN 3D - R

Due to its size, speed and simplicity, the MetraSCAN 3D scanner is used as a handheld scanner. When scanning different parts, no paths need to be programmed, but the operator of the device manually rotates the 3D scanner so that it sees all the places.

However, when we want to use a 3D scanner for serial inspection, the parts are repeated and we can use collaborative robots or other robots. We create a robot path and the robot performs a 24-hour serial inspection of the parts.

The scanner can be easily removed from the robot at any time and used again as a handheld 3D scanner.
